The laboratory Physics for Medicine Paris (Inserm, ESPCI Paris, CNRS) has been created in January 2019, in the continuity of the work of the research unit Inserm U979 Wave Physics for Medicine (former research unit within Institut Langevin Ondes et Images, Paris, France). Physics for Medicine Paris is directed by Prof. Mickael Tanter, and gathers 60 scientists (10 tenured researchers in physics and biology, 10 research engineers and technicians, 2 administrative staffs, and about ten postdoctoral fellows and thirty PhD students). The team develops innovative technologies for biomedical imaging and therapy, mostly based on ultrasound waves and new concepts of wave physics. Researchers of Physics for Medicine Paris are internationally renowned for having pioneered many innovations in the field of biomedical ultrasound, and for their ability to successfully translate fundamental research in new clinical devices.
